caught my

interest.

Landing on

top of mountain.

The pilot asked

 if we were

afraid of heights.  "Nope. But I'm

 afraid of falls."

Coromandel Peak 1

I mentioned this

would be a great place with a

model.  It turns

out that there are a lot of wedding

images taken

here on

Google Images..

Day 6

Milford Sound - Fiordland N.P.    (120 KM from Te Anau)

Boat

The view from the

boat landing was

marginal at

best.  I tried to convey the "feel"

of just how

massive the sound really was by photographing

back to the boat landing.

  That's a fairly

large boat.

Notice the background

mountains and

waterfall at left.

Waterfall

Yes, shooting

waterfalls from a

boat is a typical

tourist shot

but I feel shooting

football and birds

in flight gives me

the necessary

reaction skills to

shoot this kind

of image.

Mountains

It really did

look like this.

Heron

Fishing on

shoreline in

front of

Milford Sound.

   Another Sound ?

Shore

 side

I wasn't excited

about an image of

the sound but

really liked the foliage on shore.

Notice the detail

in the crystal

clear water.

(So did a painter

sitting near

the other

photographers.)

Bird

Friendly little

guy searching

for food.

Road to

Sound

Documenting the road to the

Sound.  The IR just adds an extra element.

River

I sure can take

a lot of really bad

images of rivers.

However, every

once in a while I

get something I

like.

Day 7

   Mt. Aspiring Natl. Park

1.

Nice pastoral location even

though a wedding

couple got bit by a horse behind us.

They were totally decked out in

traditional Asian

wedding attire.

The scene also doesn't hint

that we had to wait for several

tourist busses

to pass between taking pictures.

2.

The lighting

began to fade seconds after

jumping out of

our vehicle.  This is a prime case of shoot first, think later.

Let your years

of experience

guide the

composition.

Light can be very

fleeting.

3.

Could have

used a few

clouds.

Day 8

   Road above Glenorchy  (near Queenstown)

1.

The plan was

to capture an image with the tussocks in

foreground.

I took a lot of

pics but this is

the only one

that looked

like this.  The sun
and clouds

added to the

 image.

2.

Some "painting"

composition

snuck into

this image.

3.

Some "Palouse"

influence

although I've

never been

there.

4.

Lake

Wakatipu

in background.

5.

Idyllic.
