Fueling your Car : |
|
Gasoline: $4.50 gal / 30 MPG = $0.15 / mile (California) Hybrid: $4.50 gal / 50 MPG = $0.09 / mile Electric: $ .41 / kWh / 3.2 Miles / kWh = $0.128 / mile (California) Hydrogen: $5.00 gal / 32 gal fill up / 320 mile = $0.50 / mile (Mirai)

|
Hydrogen versus Electric Vehicles : |
Hydrogen (1 gal) requires 192 KWH of electricity. Google search: "electrolyzes requires 48 kilowatt hours (KWH) of electricity to produce 1 kg (1/4 gal) of hydrogen."
Toyota Mirai gets 12.5 miles per gallon of hydrogen. Toyota Sales Brochure: Mirai range: 402 miles. Tank capacity: 32 gallons.
Electrical cars getting 3 miles per KWH, would go 576 miles. (192 x 3)
Conclusion, there is something wrong with my logic or working on hydrogen is idiocy.

Wisdom: |
(Economics) Inflation equals: The people of the U.S. now require more goods and services than the country is able to produce.
(Political) - If someone is accusing you of something, it's because they are doing it themselves. - If you and another person cannot agree on the facts, you are wasting your time debating.
(Environmental) Global warming is not an excuse for environmental negligence.

Requiem for a Vehicle: |
CrossTrek Showing Signs of Age:
- 10+ years old. - 170,000 miles. - Mileage: 21 MPG - Engine gaskets leaking. - Burns a quart of oil every 1,500 miles. - CV joints clicking - wearing out.
- Too many irritants. (I'm old too.) First generation looking dated compared to 3rd generation. Increasing road noise. Right front speaker rattles with too much base. Driver seat wearing out. Steering wheel getting sticky in cold weather. Front light covers getting really foggy.
It could cost up to $10,000 to bring the drive train up to speed and the car only worth $4,500.
