    Woodlands Update

It's unfortunate, but this hidden gem of woodlands is no more.  There were hardly

any natural woodlands in SoCal anyway.  The trees have been blown down by

some horrendous Santa Ana winds in the last couple months and/or cut down by the

park service.  Probably both.  All of the under growth has  been mowed to the ground.

I don't know if this was done for fire prevention or the park service making more

landscaped picnic areas.  This is an  incredibly popular park and the park service

just needed more landscape areas for picnicking.

I believe the images below caught some of the natural beauty of the woodlands and

may be the last serious images ever captured of the area.  If left untouched by

humans, it might take decades to re-grow.    I should be happy that I was able to

capture the images that I did and not look back.  Finding beauty among the chaos

is emotionally rewarding.   I just wanted to take better images this year.

Now, I won't have the opportunity.

This brings up an unfortunate truth.  Things don't stay the same.  When you have

the opportunity to capture beauty, take it.  It may not be there the next time

you visit.
